Young Volunteers Programme
Young Volunteers Programme 2017/18
Are you aged between 14 and 18 years and looking to access training opportunities to volunteer within aquatics?
The Region is looking to increase the number of trained young people and to improve accessibility to formal and informal training opportunities through the Young Volunteer Programme.
Young people participating in the programme will be expected to attend two Development Days. Following the first Development Day, the young people will be expected to undertake 10 hours volunteering within their own club environment. As part of the programme, the young people will also be expected to volunteer at an aquatic event (club, county or regional) over the coming 12 months.
The cost for participating in the whole Young Volunteer Programme is £20 and all candidates who complete the programme will receive a polo shirt and water bottle. Training provided during the programme includes;
- Swim England Young Aquatic Helper Certificate
- Timekeepers Course (or discipline specific officiating qualification)
- St. Johns Emergency First Aid
- UK Coaching – Safeguarding for Young Volunteers (13+)
Dates for courses in Abingdon, Oxford and K2, Crawley (see Volunteer Programme below) have already been published for October 17 and March 18.
Additional programmes will be available in Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Surrey throughout the year. These programmes will be advertised as soon as the dates are confirmed.
